Copy & Line Editing: $0.0085/word

This is a longer process that deals with the more style-related aspects of your book. It should take place after content editing, or, as it often happens, after alpha and beta readers have taken a look at your text. 

Attention to detail is the name of the game here, so I’ll be checking the mechanicals of your text—grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style. 

This includes things like:

* Typos, misspelled or misused words, as well as repetitions 

* Comma placement

* Subject/verb agreement

* Plurals and possessives

* Word choice and overuse

* Awkward or run-on sentences

* Consistency of detail

I’ll also be checking the flow of the text, consistency, and plot/character issues that may be unclear or need further development. I focus on the tone and how the text fits together, reworking awkward sentences and making them more natural, and tightening lengthy monologues and descriptions, all to improve your book’s readability.

Any technical issues will be handled with track changes. Others will be handled by comments and suggestions, so you’re always in charge of your text.

Proofreading: $0.0045/word

This is the last line of defense to catch any lingering issues, from typos to wrong tenses, weird formatting, repetitions, and anything else that may not be right.

Errors at this point should be minimal, but please note that I don’t just check grammar—if I feel like something can be improved, I will comment on it and leave it to your consideration.
